Bitcoin Pizza Day
Happy Bitcoin Pizza Day

At ChrisSivers.com we celebrate the whimsical side of Bitcoin. On May 22nd 2010, in the early days of Bitcoin, a post was made in the Bitcoin Forum offering 10,000 BTC in exchange for two pizzas.
Valued at under a penny, 10,000 coins was roughly the cost of 2 pizzas. Laszlo's request was 2 pizzas delivered to his house. This year on the 15 year anniversary, these coins are worth 1.1 billion.
While the story is sensational due to the amount of money that was potentially lost, it is not about that. Laszlo Hanyecz was a pioneer. This was the first time Bitcoin was exchanged for a real world good.
Laszlo shows no regrets, recognizing the contribution he made to Bitcoin's progress. In fact, he is reported to have made several such purchases in the summer of 2010.
The best part - I celebrate Bitcoin Pizza Day by eating pizza. (That's my kind of holiday!) This year I brought a pizza to evening sailing to share with my crew.
It would have been hard to envision 100k Bitcoin in 2010 while the project was still in it's infancy.

I also like the story of Jeremy, who accepted the challenge, received 10,000 BTC and ordered the pizzas for to be delivered to Laszlo. Many like to think he HODL'd and became rich. In truth he sold the Bitcoin to go travelling with his girlfriend.
